KC Jones Clinic

On Easter weekend, Racheal and Brent attended the KC Jones Roping Clinic. KC Jones is a Timed Event Champion. Racheal went to Thursdays clinic and team roped. KC was really impressed with her horsemanship skills. She really showed the boys how to ride and handle a horse.

On Saturday Brent attended the Breakaway clinic. We started with the proper way to swinging the rope. Then we went to dummy roping. To the right is a picture of Brent roping the dummy. Check out his determination.

Then they were able to rope on their horses. They learned a lot about how to handle their horse correctly in the box. This helps the horse to want to rope. You want them to be comfortable in the box. Brent caught his very first one out. Below is a picture of the whole clinic.

Good People

After traveling to San Diego last week, it really made me stop and think about my perceptions of people in the world. Each day we are bombarded by the media about what a dangerous horrible world we live in. The news reports are filled with violence and hate.

The really strange thing is that when you go out each day, you manage to meet really nice people. If you just talk to the person next to you at the restaurant, airport or store, you might find out that they are just like you. They are concerned about their families, careers, and life. The love the people that are close to them. They take care of their responsibilities. They go home and do household chores just like the rest of us.

Then I had the fortune of spending time with the our friends from Japan last week. It completely made me realize all of the above to be true. They are just like us. They worry about their families, careers and life.

While I was gone, I never noticed anyone being mean or hateful. If everyone would just have a little tolerance and spend some time actually meeting and talking with other people, maybe we could focus on how much we are the same instead of how much we are different.

San Diego Business Trips

Last week, my business partner and I went to San Diego for our Quest Group business. We had approximately 300 of our Japanese distributors there for a seminar. Most of them we have never met even though we have done business with them for almost six years.

We flew to San Diego to Wednesday. We met them in the afternoon. That night we took them to dinner at a nice steak house. Chiyuki is a very small Japanese woman. I bet she does not weigh over 90 pounds. She ate an entire 160z steak. We could not believe it.

On Thursday morning, we got up and went to an exercise class on the beach. It was beautiful. The waves were really coming in and the weather was really clear. The class was a lot of fun and a lot of work but it was great to be outside.

Overall it was a very productive trip. It was so amazing to meet a group of people that are so nice and caring. They truly are remarkable. Although we got a lot of work done, the important part of the trip was strengthening relationships.
