The Search Is Over

Well, we may have finally found the right horse. We have been all over the state looking for Brent a new rodeo horse. We went to Tremonton on Friday to look at an all around horse. She was very cute and had a lot of show and 4H experience. However, she had just a little roping training.

On Saturday we loaded up and went to St George to look for a rope horse. Coy has some very good friends down there that he high school and college rodeoed with. They had a friend who had a 12 year old mare that has years of roping experience. She was hauled for 4 years to high school rodeo. She is the perfect size for Brent. He will even be able to get off of her to goat tie without a ladder.

The person who owned her was trying to show Coy how she roped but he missed 3 times. So Coy got on her and caught 2 right away. He fell in love with the way she came in on the corner to heel. She has also been used for tie down roping. She may be able to get Brent through his first year of high school rodeo. Unfortunately, Brent was not there to ride her but he will love her.

He is so excited to get a new rope horse. He is finally ok with letting his old rope horse go. He has been so comfortable roping on him that he was a little worried about trying a new horse. The new horse ropes a lot like Wheezer. So he will get along great with her. I will post pictures of him with her as soon as we pick her up.

Sometime Moms Don't Think

Last night we hauled Cheyenne to another place to get up off the ice. Hopefully, it will make her a lot more comfortable. She is at least in a dry place and she wont have snow packed in her feet.

I was supposed to leave work at 5:00 so that we could haul. However, I was on a conference call with Japan that went 45 minutes over. So I left work really late to be taking her at night. I drove really fast home. While I was driving home, I was only thinking about being late and that we needed to hurry. I was not even considering that moving this horse would be difficult for Brent.

When I got home, Brent was not ready to go. He did not even have his socks or shoes on. So instead of being patient and finding out what was really going on, I just got mad and told him to get upstairs and get his stuff done. I told him I was leaving him home if he was not ready in five minutes. So we go and get the horse loaded and still no Brent. I came back in and he was crying and upset. Instead of making sure he was ok, I just got more mad. Then I really yelled. I though he was upset about his video game. I never really stopped to think he may be upset about hauling the horse away. Sometimes moms can be so dumb.

On the way over, I apologized for yelling. I explained that we needed to be places and he had plenty of time to be ready. I still had not thought about why he was upset. Brent did not sleep at all last night. He has chronic nightmares anyway. It took until this morning for me to get a clue. I guess we all get in that place where we are only thinking about what we are feeling or what is bothering us. My only concern last night is that I was late. However, Brent was just sad that we had to haul her away. In this fast pace, we just need to stop and think.

The Search Continues

After working full time today, I come home to spend time with my family. I run 2 businesses as well as 2 part time business. Needless to say my schedule is busy. I really try to make sure that I leave at 5:00 so that I have enough time to spend with the kids in the evening.

The search for the perfect horse continues. We have called on several more horses today. I think we have found one that may work. She is an all around horse. She has been shown in reining, won queen contests, roped on, and shown in 4H. She may make the perfect horse for Brent. We will have to wait until Friday to see.

In the meantime, we have started to put out the word on the friends and family network that we need a new horse for Brent. My brother in law is going to talk to some ropers he knows. We have called friends as far away as St George. The best chance to find a great horse is the same way to find anything else personal referral.

We also have sad news today. The horse that has raised both of my children. The one that has taken them to State 4H and placed them in many other events has to retire this year. She is really having a hard time with the winter. She has navicular in both front legs. The weather is so cold that she does not want to walk on the frozen ground. We have been given her some medicine to make her comfortable and we have a blanket on her but it is not enough. We need someone to take her that can keep her in an indoor barn. She just needs to give rides to small children. Her days of competing are done. She is a part of our family, so this is a really tough decision. It has to be made though.

Searching for the perfect horse

We have spent the last weekend searching for a horse for Brent my 12 year old. It is not easy to find the right one. We traveled all day on Saturday and Sunday. We looked at several possibilities.

We want to make sure that the horse fits his personality. It also needs to be good at what Brent loves to do ROPE. There are a lot of horses for sale. However, not everyone who is selling a horse really has all of their facts straight. They may not even know that much about horses in general. So it just takes a lot of time, patience and traveling.

Here is my rodeo dude.

I have finally done it.

I have been so confused by the world of blogs. I really never understood why people read other people's blogs. I can understand creating and writing them but there are so many people that read them. It is amazing.

I am creating a blog to create both my attitude of gratitude and positive energy creation. Of course, I will have to document all of the wonderful things in my life especially my family. They are the thing I am most grateful for.

So there it is my first post. Yeah!
